Huffington Post Passes Los Angeles Times and Washington Post in Web Traffic, Compete.com

The Huffington Post has passed both the Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times in monthly unique visitors, according to Web tracking service Compete.com

The the fast growing HuffPo had 8.4 million uniques in September according to Compete.com.  That's up from 7 million in September.

Whether or not Compete.com provides the whole picture of traffic for these properties, the upward trend of the HuffPo is clear.  These numbers were reported last night on the Business Insider.

Last month I spoke with Eric Hippeau, CEO of the Huffington Post.  He told me that internal data put unique monthly visitors at over 24 million.

He told me how the company is set to monetize the traffic.  (We have republished the interview today.)

Andy Plesser, Executive Producer

Note:  Beet.TV publishes content on the HuffPo, but there is no financial arrangement.
