The English service of broadcast network Al Jazeera saw a 600 percent increase in worldwide viewership of its website's streaming footage during the conflict in Gaza, The Associated Press reports.
Sixty percent of those viewers were from the United States, the AP says. As one of the few news organizations with video crews in Gaza, where journalists were barred by Israeli authorities during the conflict, the network produced unique coverage.
Without carriage in the United States on cable or major satellites, the broadcaster has been finding an audience online through its site and through its increasingly popular Al Jazeera English's YouTube Channel.
