Mediabistro, the New York-based publisher of 13 media-related publications including TVNewser and Agency Spy, as well as job boards and training programs, will launch a new publication to cover the digital media business.  The publication, called WebNewser, is live but will have its official launch in early January.

Heading up the new effort is Mediabistro Executive Producer Chris Ariens.  Here's how Chris explains the editorial focus of the new site:

"WebNewser covers all media: TV, newspaper,
magazines… and how they are embracing… or not… the Web to help them grow. With
my TV background it may tend to be TV heavy. We also get so many releases from
the networks’ Web sites… ratings, new initiatives, how they work with broadcast
counterparts… that we wanted to have a separate place for those posts."

Last April in Las Vegas, I interviewed Chris about the editorial scope and mission of Mediabistro.  I have republished the interview.

In October of 2007, I interviewed Alan Meckler, head of Jupiter Media, the company that owns Mediabistro.

btw:  TVNewser will continue to be published as separate property.
