Caroline McCarthy, the social media beat reporter at CNET News.com, who has just wrapped up her coverage of the Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco, does a little debrief with her editor Dan Farber.

She said the energy around the parties was exuberant; some revelers told her it was a throw back to the old boom days.  But, she says there is trepidation about over funded startups and unease about the economy.  She pointed to comments by Marc Andreessen about the coming "nuclear winter."

By posting this video, we are among the first blogs to grab the embed code of a CNET video.  We have learned that the new player and sharable functionality was launched just a few days ago.  How cool is this for us bloggers to be able post such great content.

Update:  Mark Larkin, CNET’s VP for Programming told me about the new player:

"Our philosophy is to reach our audience with our content
whenever and wherever they want it and the embeddable player is just one of the
many ways we can do that."
