Video content might be king, but the telcos and cable companies will reign supreme in controlling the future of online video, says Dan Rayburn, organizer of Streaming Media, the key industry event for online video infrastructure.

I interviewed Dan earlier this week in San Jose as the Streaming Media West show got underway.

Dan wonders about the success of Joost and other P2P powered content, the prospects of a two-tiered public Internet, and frames the power of the carriers in sorting this all out.

The New York Times reported yesterday about efforts at FCC to easing the grip of the cable companies.

Congrats Dan on another super successful conference.
