GigaOM Raises $1 Million in Series B Funding

Incredible turnout here at the first NewTeeVee conference at the Mission Bay Conference center in San Francisco.  About 500 guests are registered for the one-day shindig.

Above is a photo of the opening discussion with Om, Liz Gannes and MTV's Mike Salmi.

Om Malik, founder of GigaOM and its successful spinoff NewTeeVee about video convergence, got things started with an announcement of  a new round of funding.

Details were not disclosed, but Beet.TV has learned that the amount is something around $1 million and it comes largely from GigaOM's current investor True Ventures and a few unnamed angels. 

(Update, 5 PM PST: a highly placed source tells Beet.TV that the amount is over $1 million, but declined to provide a more specific amount.)

Congrats to Om and Liz and the crew on the new round and for hosting such a cool event.  Lots of interviews to follow on Beet.TV today and over the next few days.  Stay tuned.
