YouTube Tests New User Interface with Thumbnail Previews, "Time Stamps" and More......

Newyoutube3

YouTube has just begun to test a user interface with new with thumbnail previews of related clips.

It also creates a destinct url for spot in a video.  So, you don't need to watch a whole video to see the clip of dog singing to get the good part, you can just create a location within the video.  This functionality was part of Google Video, which is shifting considerable resources to YouTube.  More enhancements to come.

Comments

YouTube shapes so much of its users' consumption behaviors. It'll be intriguing to see how advertisers who have fallen in love with pre- and/or post-roll advertising will respond when this generation of users are essentially controlling their viewing patterns.

How will that affect user expectation levels on other portal sites that have used pre- or post-roll advertising?

We'll see.

Does it mean YouTube is going to swich away from H263 to On2(VP6).
Wonder if this will resolve as well the sometimes very annoying sync error between audio and video?
