Here’s the first of three interview with Ashwin Navin, president and co-founder of BitTorrent.  The company and its technology have come a long way since its early use free program to send around large open source software programs. 

Today, has become a business largely focused on distributing video files through peer-to-peer networks.  And many major movie studios are joining in.

The P2P world and online video is going to be increasingly significant for many reasons. One is bandwidth — the major costs associated with streaming can be ameliorated by having the streaming shared by users on the network.

Joost made a big announcement today about distributing content from CNN, Sony and the NHL.  Here’s the story from The Associated Press.

And, the P2P world will emerge as an important area for user generated content and advertising.  Revver is in the forefront of this and Joost is about to introduce advertising into its network.
