We’ve been exploring the world of newspapers and their use of online video.

We just learned that London’s The Sun, the Murdoch-owned London tabloid, has built a wildly successful online video player and big viewership.

Beet.TV has learned that a recent clip titled "friendly fire" has gotten more that one million views. That’s pretty impressive for a newspaper site.

The clips are entertaining but there are a couple of things to grumble about the Sun’s page: the videos don’t seem to have distinct urls and no embed is provided. There are some very "cheeky" clips — in keeping with the tone of the tabloid, natch.

Rorbert Petty, CEO of ROO, the company that implements the online video platform for many of the News Corp’s newspaper sites, visited us on Thursday for this demo.
