Comcast's consumer program called XFinity, which allows cable subscribers to access cable fare on the Web and on mobile devices, is using tools from thePlatform and Microsoft.

The companies made the joint announcement on Friday.

Not suprising about thePlatform as it is a Comcast subsidiary and has been involved with this project for some time, but a significant development for Microsoft which is increasingly employed by video streaming organizations including Netflix.

Last month we spoke with Marty Roberts of the Seattle-based thePlatform and his company's work for "TV Everywhere" and implementations outside of Comcast.
