LAS VEGAS — ConnecTV, a social network for TV fans, and marketing promotions and tune-in market for everything TV, has unveiled their own second screen ad network, ConnecTV Ad Sync.  The network will deliver ads to second screen devices that compliment television content or ads, in real time.

We had the opportunity to speak with ConnecTV CEO Ian Aaron at the 2nd Screen Summit at CES to find out more about ConnecTV and the new ad network.

Aaron explains that the company utilizes content identification and content recognition so that, “We not only know what channel you’re watching, but we know what show you’re watching and what’s going on in the show.”  Using this information, they are able to provide a contextual experience on the second screen.

According to a press release, “ConnecTV Ad Sync allows brands to offer a second-screen experience on more than 400 national and local channels that would compliment their TV spots.  It would allow viewers to buy products, enter contests, get promotional materials, send marketing alerts and offer additional content.”

Aaron says, “We’re all about helping the programmers and creating a social network to help drive engagement and discovery for subscribers.”
