CANNES — As smartphone and social technology improves, users have become empowered and are creating their own usages and solutions for second screen entertainment, leveraging the tools at their disposal, says David Nahmani, Director of Business Development and Partnerships at Orange/France Telecom in this interview with Beet.TV at the MIPTV conference.

Orange was early to the second screen game, attempting to understand these new usages and to answer to customer demand with their own second screen solution, TVcheck. TVcheck is available to Orange customer in France and the UK and covers around 60 live TV channels and premium channels in real time.

Nahmani explains that there are a huge number of usages available when it comes to the second screen, but Orange has decided to focus on three—recommendations, conversation and fun, which includes features like games, quizzes and badges (which are open to brands and sponsors).
