In uploading files to YouTube, there has been very little control over the selection of the opening still image, which is also the thumbnail image used in indexes on YouTube and various search engines.  It is a critical picture.

The selection of this important image is automated. Now, uploaders can select from three different images provided.

We just found this new functionality on the the Beet.TV account page.  When you go to "edit a video." you are offered a selection of three different images. 

While we would like to pick our own still, having some choice is a big improvement.

Above is my account page.  You’ll see three images of Truveo’s Tim Tuttle’s appearance on our YouTube channel.  Images include him and a screen shot.  It’s good to have some choice.
