The International Academy of Web Television (IAWTV) will present its first awards at a gala program at CES on January 12th at the Venetian Hotel.

On Wednesday in Los Angeles,  the organization announced the nominees across 33 categories. Below is the announcement made by Shira Lazar, host of What's Trending.

Shortly afterwards in New York, we interviewed Paul Kontonis, Chair of the IAWTV, about the awards program and the dramatic developments around Web-original entertainment and news.

Kontonis, VP at Digitas, also spoke about how brands are embracing the nascent medium.

The interview was conducted live as part of two-hour preview of CES. We will be publishing a number of segments over the next few weeks. The session was produced at the New York offices of Livestream.

Beet.TV will be covering the awards program and is pleased to be a media sponsor of the event.  YouTube, CES and Yahoo are the event's marquee sponsors.
