I caught up with Brian Stelter at The New York Times this afternoon to talk about television news and how the Web is transforming the industry.

Brian created a hugely successful and influential blog about television news.  He recently joined The New York Times where he is blogging and reporting for the paper.

He has been watching the coverage of the California wildfires and is impressed with the local news coverage which is streamed.  He tells Beet.TV that the local Los Angeles television stations are doing an excellent job and watching the streaming feeds on his computer is a great way to keep up with what’s happening.

Here’s a story about LA local news coverage in Variety.  Good insight and comments on Lost Remote.

Also, in this interview, Brian says how the Web is changing the consumption of television news.
