AOL “Marketplace” for Video Expands with Microsoft

The vision of AOL video chief  Ran Harnevo of a giant, efficient marketplace for video publishers and content creators, which he first launched in Tel Aviv in 2007 with a company called  5Min, and was acquired in 2010 by AOL, has substantially expanded with the today’s news of Microsoft’s MSN becoming the newest distribution platform for AOL video.

We sat down with Harnevo to talk about the importance of the arrangement with Microsoft.  In the new arrangement, AOL will syndicate its original content library as well as the content from its publishing partners including ESPN, The New York Times, BuzzFeed, and others.    (AOL also uploads it library to YouTube, but not videos from its content partners.)
