YouTube's new original content initiative is likely to bring an increase in CPMs for programmers and the site, says John Evershed, CEO of animated programmer Mondo Media and a YouTube partner, during an interview with Beet.TV in Manhattan at the Streaming Media East conference.

YouTube is starting to sell the programming in its new content initiative at a premium, which could improve CPMs, Evershed says. The YouTube program also brings programmers a cash advance against revenue sharing, and Mondo Media is using that money to test several new pilots, Evershed tells Beet.TV in this video interview.

The programmer will introduce at least 300 new episodes of shows this year. 'We are also probably going to break out into some new projects. I'm really interested in political animated cartoons and I think there's an opportunity there," he tells us.
