AMSTERDAM — Scottish commercial TV broadcaster STV has spent the last few years building up its STV Player multi-platform catch-up service. Now it will soon be able to commercialize live video in the same way it is on-demand.

Earlier this month, the outfit inked a deal to use YoSpace to power ads in its live simulcast streams.

“YoSpace allows us to take our Videoplaza ad delivery in to live and simulcast,” STV technology and platforms chief Alistair Brown tells Beet.TV in this video interview during the IBC show. We can monetize live TV in the same way we monetize VOD.

“We’ve done a private beta during August; it worked well. We’re doing final integration and testing, it’s looking very good.

“YoSpace’s tech allows us to dynamically insert advertising; it’s ad replacement technology. It also allows you to do server-side ad delivery, so you’re not having to call the individual ads in separately.”

STV uses Brightcove and Videoplaza for a range of video services.
