Craig Duff, former multimedia chief at Time.com, now a professor at the Medill School of Journalism, has just returned from the Middle East with this update on emerging forms of digital journalism rising from revolution in Egypt.
We spoke with him about the role of "citizen journalists" and how it has impacted internal and external opinion.
He talks about how some inventive video publishers are projected news clips on outdoor spaces, places where citizens lack internet access. He also talks about an emerging satellite news channel. And he talks about 18 Days in Egypt, a crowd-sourced video journalism project about the revolution.
Today, Duff wrote on his blog about the challenges of covering the turmoil in the Middle East and the tragic death of two Western journalists today.
