While the the sale of downloadable entertainment has been the largely the province of the Apple, media companies will create their own "media stacks" to sell content directly to consumers, says Chris Van Noy, Chief Media and Entertainment Strategist at Akamai.
In other developments on the horizon, he sees tech companies, including Amazon, Facebook and Google moving more aggressively in the consumer electronics field.
We interviewed Van Noys at the Beet.TV Leadeship summit last month in New York, where he was a panelist.
