Techmeme, considered by many as the most authoritative tech news aggregator, spun off a media news site called Mediagazer in early March.

Since its launch, it has quickly garnered 100,000 unique monthly visitors, nearly a third of traffic of its parent site, according to Compete.

The site is edited by Megan McCarthy along with an algorithm created by Techmeme founder Gabe Rivera, an engineer who launched Techmeme in 2005.   Business Week named Rivera one of the 25 most influential individuals on Web

Megan is the first "human editor" Gabe employed.  She joined him last year after stints at Valleywag and Wired's Epicenter.

She edits the site from her San Francisco apartment.   I spoke with her yesterday via video Skype about the new site, the editorial mission, and business model.

Like Techmeme, it has clearly identified sponsor feeds which are updated in real time.

Meanwhile Techmeme is nearing 360,000 monthly uniques, up 45 percent over the past 12 months according to Compete.
