SAN JOSE, CA -- Loomia provides recommended links and videos to visitors of big publishing sites for text content as well as links to video. The company claims its recommendation engine boosts consumption by 24 percent for video publishers.
The San Francisco-based company's program is integrated into the WSJ.com, Time.com, and other big sites. Last month in San Jose, we caught up with co-founder and CEO David Marks for this update.
The company raised a small additional funding round in September.
Video recommendation to visitors is increasingly important as publishers seek to keep viewers on their site. We recently reported on Taboola, a pure video recommendation platform that is being used by The New York Times.
Both Loomia and Taboola are partners with Brightcove.

I have actually liked reading your articles. You obviously know your material. Your site is very easy to navigate. I have bookmarked it in my favourites and will for sure be returning for more.....
I think its very good that the company raised a small additional funding round in 2010...
ecommendation systems or recommendation engines form or work from a specific type of information filtering system technique that attempts to recommend information items (films, television, video on demand, music, books, news, images, web pages, etc) that are likely to be of interest to the user

While the company claims its recommendation engine boosts consumption by 24 percent for video publishers. So, there will be lots of possibilities to earn money online.
The Politics section tends to get bigger page views, so to address the imbalance Loomia’s recommendations widgets can drive users from Politics to Finance.
Marks told us that a lot of their publishers are “dollar focused” this year, therefore recommendations have become more than just an interesting feature on a website – they can drive more advertising dollars.let me tell you an example, Marks told us that a media website’s Finance section may sell out with ads, but its Politics section may not (fairly common in big media websites). But the Politics section tends to get bigger page views, so to address the imbalance Loomia’s recommendations widgets can drive users from Politics to Finance
There’s little risk involved and sites do get more page views. It’s a useful way for site owners to make money without having to rely on disruptive ads that have nothing to do with a visitor.
