Mogulus is Now Called Livestream

Mogulus, the New York-based start-up which provides free and paid Web streaming services, has renamed itself as Livestream.

In a phone conversation this morning, founder and CEO Max Haot told me that the name change is important as the product is becoming more broadly marketed to consumers.  

Liz Gannes at NewTeeVee first reported the story this morning.  She reports the company's  has reached profitability. paid service has become profitable.

Live webcasting of video of events is just one aspect the company's offering.  A very important functionality of Livestream is the publishing of live, ongoing programming.

This means publishers can put up a continuing stream of content.  At our Beet.TV Online Video Roundtable at MSNBC last fall, Max explains this in this video I've posted today

This event was streamed by Mogulus: This is incredible: the round table live show on Mogulus has had 185,000 stream since November 1 of last year.
