LOS ANGELES -- Instead of the $10 million spent for network pilots, creative web producers are beginning to fill the critical role of program development, according Vince Manze, president at NBC Universal Creative Services.
Although Quarterlife didn't work out for NBC as had been hoped, it wasn't a big financial loss. There will more pioneering Web programs heading toward the network, Manze indicates in his comments.
I spoke with him at the OnHollywood conference earlier this month. He filled me in on some creative initiative within the NBC Universal organization including a co-promotion for the new film Hell Boy and a possible 3D film about the Summer Olympics.

Sounds like they really want to build a brand with Hell Boy, integrating the character into many different avenues.
Thanks to cheap video production (new media), there will soon be a wealth of shows to watch. The ones that go viral will then be made into more serious online webisodes, and in some cases successful TV shows picked up by the major TV Networks.
An exciting time for new interactive media.
